Graduation 卒業式: A Symphony of Tears
Just attended a graduation at one of my Junior High Schools. It was moving, if only for the fact that there were a lot of kids hemorrhaging tears. It was not a ceremony of moving on, it was the funeral of childhood.
The students are made to practice for the graduation ceremony everyday at least since half a month before, like a military; practice of marching, bowing, sitting, chanting farewell vows as loud as possible, how to stand up, how to receive the diploma …, in the end to cry with everyone together singing songs for graduation. It’s the ceremony to show VIOP in order to impress them overwhelmingly rather than the ceremony for the students themselves.
Such compulsion of emotion appears everywhere around. It’s kind of Japan-style mentality. It forces you to do to show them how your school (company / group / country) is as significant and great to you as you can’t help crying. Job training in Japan
